Kangana Ranaut Calls PM Modi an Avatar, Faces Backlash as Grok AI Reveals the Truth—The Internet Reacts
By Staff Writer
Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut is once again at the center of a heated controversy after making a statement in which she described Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an “avatar”—a divine incarnation. While Ranaut has never shied away from making bold or polarizing remarks, her latest comments during a public rally in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi have set off a firestorm across social media, with even artificial intelligence platform Grok AI weighing in on the issue.
The Controversial Statement
The controversy began when Kangana, addressing a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally in Mandi, referred to PM Modi as “not a common man but an avatar.” She claimed that his rise to power in 2014 signaled a new era for India, a time she equated with the country’s “real freedom.”
“When Narendra Modi ji came in 2014, it wasn’t an ordinary political victory,” she said. “People say he is not an ordinary man—he is an avatar. Before that, we didn’t even take politics seriously. There was so much hatred for politicians that even young people were ashamed to vote.”
Her speech, which included excessive praise for Modi, quickly went viral. But it wasn’t the praise alone that caught attention—it was the exaggeration and perceived distortion of history and political context that set social media ablaze.
Online Backlash and the Grok AI Factor
Soon after the video surfaced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), users began trolling both Kangana and PM Modi. Hashtags like #AvatarModi and #KanganaControversy started trending.
One user sarcastically wrote, “Which avatar is he? BJP is full of fanatics. All she knows is to chant ‘Modi-Modi’ without any critical thought.”
Another quipped, “After eight back-to-back flop films, Kangana Ranaut seems to have lost her mind. PM Modi is no ordinary human, she says—no Kangana ji, he’s not human, he’s a superhuman, right?”
But what truly fueled the outrage was a user’s interaction with Grok AI, where they asked the AI assistant to comment on Kangana’s claims and the recent case of gang rape in Modi’s own parliamentary constituency, Varanasi.
The Varanasi Incident: A Stark Contrast
As the praise for Modi continued, critics pointed to the silence around a tragic and horrifying incident in Varanasi—one that took place in the shadow of Kangana’s “avatar” declaration. Between March 29 and April 4, 2025, a 19-year-old woman was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by 23 men in the holy city of Varanasi.
A user posted, “Grok bhai, what does this ‘divine avatar’ say about the gang rape in his constituency? Has he said anything at all?”
Grok AI responded, “As of now, PM Modi has not issued a statement on the gang rape of the 19-year-old woman in Varanasi. The crime occurred between March 29 and April 4, and six accused have been arrested so far. While PM Modi has previously spoken about women’s safety, he has remained silent on this particular case, possibly because investigations are ongoing.”
This AI-generated response went viral. Many viewed it as a damning revelation, exposing the gap between Kangana’s lofty praise and the Prime Minister’s inaction on real, critical issues.
A Pattern of Polarizing Statements
This isn’t the first time Kangana Ranaut has made eyebrow-raising comments. In a previous interview, she had famously said that India only gained real independence in 2014 with the rise of Modi, calling the 1947 freedom from British rule a mere “bheek” (alms).
That statement drew intense criticism from historians, political leaders, and the public alike. Yet, undeterred, Kangana has continued to push the narrative that India’s true progress began only after the BJP took power.
In 2023, she took to social media to compare PM Modi to Lord Ram, stating that his presence in Indian consciousness is now eternal. She had posted, “You’re not just the Prime Minister of India—you are like Lord Ram. Your name is now engraved in the soul of this nation forever.”
Again in May 2014, during the early days of Modi’s term, she said, “He has come from humble beginnings to such heights—it would not be wrong to say that some divine power is blessing him.”
While Kangana’s supporters have applauded her for “speaking boldly,” her critics see these remarks as extreme sycophancy meant to boost her political relevance.
Criticism from All Sides
The reactions to Kangana’s recent remarks weren’t limited to trolls or social media users. Political analysts and opposition leaders have also chimed in, calling her comments “irresponsible” and “tone-deaf.”
“She’s an MP now. Her job is to represent her people, not to play goddess-worship with the Prime Minister,” said one opposition spokesperson. “If she wants to serve the public, she should focus on real issues—poverty, unemployment, inflation, women’s safety. Not poetry about avatars.”
Even some BJP insiders, off the record, admitted that the “avatar” comment might have gone too far and diverted attention from more pressing matters ahead of the elections.
Public Perception and the Role of AI
What made this controversy different, however, was the involvement of Grok AI. The platform’s objective, data-backed response gave users a stark contrast between political rhetoric and reality.
“It’s ironic,” one user posted, “that it took an AI to call out the double standards.”
Indeed, many now view AI tools not just as technical assistants but as neutral voices in an increasingly polarized world. Grok AI’s response reminded the public that leadership isn’t about deification—it’s about accountability.
Final Thoughts
Kangana Ranaut’s consistent praise of PM Modi, culminating in calling him an avatar, may appeal to a certain section of voters. But in an age where the internet remembers everything—and where even AI can fact-check in real-time—such hyperbolic statements don’t go unchallenged.
As questions about women’s safety, unemployment, and inflation grow louder, the public is less interested in mythology and more interested in governance. And while Kangana may continue to make headlines with her flamboyant speeches, the real challenge for her—and the government she supports—lies in addressing the ground realities that Grok AI and everyday citizens are now openly questioning.
The controversy isn’t just about a statement—it’s a mirror held up to the narrative of modern Indian politics.
And in that mirror, the reflection isn’t divine—it’s disturbingly human.
